Berry Street to join National Redress Scheme

Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Michael Perusco, Chief Executive Officer of Berry Street, is pleased to announce that the Berry Street Board has made the decision to join the National Redress Scheme.

The National Redress Scheme commenced in July 2018 and will operate for 10 years. It has been introduced in response to recommendations by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

The Scheme will provide, for eligible applicants, a monetary payment, access to counselling and, if requested, a personal apology.

There are a number of administrative steps that must be undertaken in order to be accepted as a participating organisation by the Scheme. Berry Street has commenced this process and hopes to finalise these steps in early 2019.
