Over five sessions this webinar series will provide participants with a framework for creating therapeutic stories with children and young people who have experienced trauma where expressing emotions is challenging.
Participants need to have experience working with children and their families, knowledge of Attachment, Trauma and Narrative Theory, be interested in storytelling, working with PowerPoint and be open to creativity.
The Webinar will be delivered via ZOOM and for privacy reasons will not be recorded.
Objectives
- to understand the process, what this means for a child, and how to apply it
- to understand the differences between providing intensive Therapeutic Life Story Work and developing Therapeutic Stories
- to examine the underpinning theory
- to develop your own “how-to manual” and resource material for reference and support
- understand the importance of using age-appropriate language
- to equip participants with the tools for creating Therapeutic Stories and incorporating this way of working into their practice.

- identify suitable referrals for Therapeutic Stories
- create your own “how to manual” and resource materials for reference and support
- create effective and achievable plans of work, including costings
- explain the issues relevant to creating Therapeutic Stories

This training will be useful to Social Care Staff, councillors, therapists, therapeutic life story workers, teachers and youth workers and practitioners working with children and young people in out of home care settings.
