Through his innovative and creative techniques, Richard will demonstrate ways of working that enable placements to become healthy and nurturing through enhanced understanding of attachment and trauma, with the ultimate goal of helping these children and young people achieve their full potential.

Richard is also delivering Complex Case Analysis and Therapeutic Life Story Work Advanced Practitioner Sessions in the second half of 2024.

Overview

There are many ways that we can communicate with children and young people. This workshop will explore techniques for working with children and young people who have been impacted by traumatic events that have become drivers to their present day and impacting their healthy development.

Richard will share his most effective interventions based on his own practice that have helped break down the walls and encourage children and young people to engage and talk about their experiences and internal hurts.

The theme of walls, ghosts and monsters and how we can help by listening and being present will be explored as well as many other tools and techniques tried and tested by Richard.

Attendees will need to bring with them to the training coloured markers, paper and a notepad.

Who should attend?

If you are a professional working with children and young people affected by early life trauma in child protection, out-of-home care, youth work, education or involved in recovery work with children and families in need, this is a wonderful opportunity not to be missed.
