Berry Street’s response to COVID-19

Friday, March 20, 2020

The health, safety and wellbeing of children, young people and other service users, as well as employees, carers and volunteers is paramount.

Berry Street is working hard to respond to COVID-19 and put in place all the necessary supports in order to deliver our essential services safely and sustainably.

The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented event and there’s a lot of conflicting information coming at us all from every direction. Children and young people may be feeling uncertain and frightened about what the future might hold.

Here are some useful resources to help you support the children in your life at this time:

  • How to Cope with stress related to COVID-19: This is a link to Headspace’s resources for young people aged 12-25 years around managing the stress related to COVID-19.
  • Coronavirus Social Story: this online resource has been made for children with disabilities to understand what Coronavirus is and why it might be changing their daily schedules and routines.

As a Victorian organisation, Berry Street is referring to the Victorian Government Department of Health and Human Services for the latest developments and updates.
