Berry Street in Partnership with ABC Radio Victoria deliver Christmas to thousands of Victoria’s most vulnerable

Wednesday, December 27, 2017

Thousands of children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds across Victoria received a special surprise on Christmas day, thanks to over 10,000 gifts donated to Berry Street through the ABC Giving Tree Appeal by generous ABC Listeners on-line and in-station across Victoria.

"We were absolutely thrilled by the generosity of ABC listeners in Melbourne and across Victoria again this year," said Fran O’Toole, Acting CEO of Berry Street.

“Christmas is a time to give, and thanks to the generosity of thousands of ABC Listeners and the general public, the spirit of Christmas was brought to the lives of vulnerable children and young people this Christmas."

Christmas is a time to get together with loved ones, but for children and young people whose family has been fractured by abuse, neglect and violence, Christmas can be a time of loneliness and isolation.

Helping a child to create new happy memories and fulfil Christmas wishes is so important for vulnerable children who have missed out on so much.
